Vinyl disappears into a wall; Andersen is meant to be seen. Stain-grade wood interiors that match your trim, slim Fibrex frames that hold dark colors without the thermal drama of vinyl, and enough shapes, grilles, and hardware to match a craftsman, a farmhouse, or a view wall. Black deserves a special word: it's a standard Andersen finish, colored through the material — on vinyl lines like Milgard or Ply Gem, black is typically a painted finish offered as a custom-color option at added cost. It costs more — and in the right house, it reads that way every day.
From the value-forward 100 Series to full wood-clad units — compare them in person at our Anacortes showroom.
Fibrex is Andersen's composite — reclaimed wood fiber bonded in a polymer matrix. The wood fiber gives it roughly twice the rigidity of vinyl, so frames can be slimmer for the same strength, which means more glass per opening. The polymer seals the wood fiber against moisture, so it doesn't rot, flake, or need paint. And unlike vinyl, it holds dark exterior colors without the expansion issues that rule dark vinyl out on sunny walls — with the color running through the frame, not painted on, so a scratch shows the same color underneath.
In practice, Fibrex (the 100 Series) is where Andersen competes closest to premium vinyl pricing — often the smartest entry point to the brand when you want the slimmer look without full wood-clad cost.
"Renewal by Andersen" — the brand you hear advertised — is Andersen's separate franchised replacement operation with its own sales process and pricing. That is not what this page is. We're an independent local contractor that sells and installs Andersen's standard product lines at dealer pricing, with our team doing the work and our own name on the workmanship.
Comparing your options? Milgard Ultra fiberglass plays in a similar premium space at a different price point — we stock both at the showroom and will quote them side by side without a push either way.
