Decking Replacement · Anacortes, WA · Skagit County
Anacortes decks live in moss country — nine wet months a year eat cedar boards from the top and rot ledgers from behind. We replace the decking and railing on structurally sound frames, and flash the house connection like the wall penetration it is.
Free on-site assessment — frame inspected, composite and cedar quoted side by side.
Here's the honest economics of Anacortes decks: the boards fail long before the frame does. Cedar decking grays, splinters, and goes soft within 15–20 wet years, while the pressure-treated joists underneath often have decades left. Resurfacing — new decking and railing on your existing frame — captures that difference, typically saving thousands over a full rebuild.
To be clear about what we do: we replace decking on existing, structurally sound frames — we don't build new decks from the ground up. The frame verdict comes first: we probe joists, posts, and the ledger connection before quoting. If the structure passes, you get composite-ready spacing corrections and new boards. If it doesn't, we tell you straight — new boards on a rotting frame is the one project we won't sell.
The detail most Anacortes decks get wrong is the ledger — the board bolting the deck to your house. Water that gets behind it rots the house wall itself, which turns a deck project into a rot restoration. As a siding contractor, we flash that connection to wall standards, not deck-builder shortcuts.
Three capped-composite lines plus cedar — samples in hand at your estimate, quoted side by side.
No good-better-best games — every project gets the full scope, spelled out line by line in your bid.
If our installation fails, we come back and make it right. The warranty terms are spelled out in your bid — ask us for the current details.
"The entire crew from Siding Vault were awesome to work with! I hired them for a large project that completely transformed and modernized our home. We went with James Hardie fiber cement siding, Anderson windows and sliding doors, Trex decking with RDI metal railing on two decks and the front porch, and a Codel front door. From the very beginning phone call with the project manager Michael, I felt like he really took the time to understand my vision and educate me on the various materials and products that were available, as well as all of the processes involved in installation. The project lasted about 3 months, and there was always excellent communication about the state of affairs. There were a few small curveballs as you might expect with any project of this size, but Michael always handled everything quickly and efficiently and in a very customer-oriented way, and when the scope of the project expanded significantly (I was originally going to use another contractor for the decking), the entire team took it in stride and made it a completely seamless project. Oscar and the crew were always punctual, professional, and polite, which is huge when these guys are spending this much time at your house. They really bent over backwards every step of the way to make sure I was happy with how things were going. I’m really happy with the quality of the products that we chose. We spent a little more for the pre-finished siding, but I think it was really worth it. Same with the decking and windows, we stepped up a little from the entry-level products. But there were a lot of different options, and Michael was always happy to revise quotes and offer multiple line-item options so that we could tailor everything to our needs while still staying within budget. Overall, I would highly recommend these guys for any kind of exterior work, and will be sure to reach out to them again should the need arise. I’m sharing a few before and after photos because I think the quality of their work speaks for itself."
